“Hamsaanadi – Swan Lake 2016″ to feature at Queen’s Hall

A classic tale of tragic love takes on a new face next month when the Shiv Kala Kendra Dance Company presents “Hamsaanandi”, a modern interpretation of Tchaikovsky’s classic ballet, “Swan Lake”.

The beloved dance theatre piece will be performed in the classical Indian style of Kathak and according to troupe teacher, Veejhi Seeramlal, the presentation will also commemorate the dance company’s 25th aniversary.

“This ballet has been in the making for a year and we thought it an appropriate celebration of our silver anniversary,” Seeramlal said.

Hamsaanandi was described as a romantic ballet that centers on the ill-fated romance of prince Kylaashis and Anandi, the swan princess.
