In recognition of the significant contribution of Margaret Walcott to the development of the Arts in T&T, the Patrons of Queen’s Hall (The Patrons), of which she was a charter member, has launched a bursary in her honour. The Margaret Walcott Bursary will be presented next month and will be the first of a series of events in her memory.
Walcott will be remembered for her work with Queen’s Hall as the general manager at the time of the redesign and refurbishment of the venue. She was a pillar of strength to the then chairman of the board of management, Val Rogers, as both shared the same vision for an improved Hall. Visionary and resourceful, Walcott, as a director of the Patrons, contributed to the expansion of the group’s vision by, not only supporting the creation of a first class performance space but also creating a space for nurturing and training young talented people in the performing arts.
