Raising their voices in song, boys at the 2015 Youth Music Festival were not afraid to shine and in some cases outshine their female counterparts yesterday. Savion Burke woke up the quiet auditorium at Queen’s Hall, St Ann’s yesterday with his booming voice as he did the test piece, “The Call” by G Herbert and music by R Vaughn Williams. Burke competed in the Boy’s Vocal Solo 16-19 category (Low voice). Though Burke gave a valiant effort with his performance he was edged out by the sweet tenor voice of Daniel Roberts who sang the test piece for (high voice) “Passing By” by Edward Purcell.
Day three of the ongoing 2015 Youth Music Festival hosted by the Trinidad and Tobago Music Festival Association north committee at Queen’s Hall, St Ann’s, saw stiff competition and a few hiccups. The festival had a slight delay in the morning session and began thirty minutes later than the scheduled 10 a.m. time.
